We have various community resources and partners that work with us to help end homelessness.
Fairfax County
If you and your minor children are homeless and in need of emergency housing, or in need of temporary assistance to prevent becoming homeless, please contact Fairfax County Human Services, (703) 222-0880. For a complete listing of services available in Fairfax County, click here.
Adults without minor children may contact the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter, (703) 799-0200 for bed availability information and for emergency overflow shelter.
City of Alexandria
If you are experiencing a housing crisis, please call 703-746-5700 for a screening and to help determine services from the Homeless Services Assessment Center. You can also walk in to discuss your situation at the Department of Community and Human Services located at 2525 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria VA 22303.

Services On The Route One Corridor
- Rising Hope UMC – food, clothing, drop-in services, emergency assistance, counseling, transportation.
- United Community – emergency assistance (food, utilities, rent, clothing, household goods, furniture), employment referral and training, children and youth programs.
- Good Shepherd Housing – emergency assistance (utilities, rent, homelessness prevention), apartment rentals, housing locator services, budget counseling, children’s programs.
- Lorton Community Action Center – emergency assistance (food, clothing, financial) for families in Lorton.
