Kevin D. Catron is completing a 22-year career as a Judge Advocate
General (JAG) in the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of Colonel in 2019. His last assignment was the Staff Judge Advocate for the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. AFDW is the Air Force component to the Joint Forces Headquarters National Capital Region and is responsible for organizing, training and equipping combat forces for aerospace expeditionary forces, homeland operations, civil support, national special security events and ceremonial events. AFDW also provides major command-level support for 33,000 military and civilian personnel assigned worldwide. Throughout his career as a JAG, Mr. Catron served in 10 different
assignments, including at Headquarters Air Force, twice as a Wing Staff
Judge Advocate, Deputy Commander, Deputy Staff Judge Advocate,
Senior Trial Counsel, and Defense Counsel. He deployed in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom to CJIATF 435 as the OIC of Detainee Criminal Investigations and Prosecutions. He was awarded the prestigious Legion of Merit twice, the Bronze Star Medal for service in Afghanistan, and the Air Force’s Meritorious Service Medal five times. His other notable achievements in the Air Force include winning the Air Force’s Legal Office of the Year Award, the 2017 Judge Advocate Association’s Outstanding Career Judge Advocate, the 2014 United States Air Force’s Europe Dr. Schubert Award for the top international legal office in Europe, and the 2006 Company Grade Officer of the Year for Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. Mr. Catron will begin a position with the Department of Justice as the Chief Counsel for the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force.
